ECOCEM campaign in Lebanon

Supported by Mistral, the ECOCEM project aims to explore the chemical composition of the Beirut atmosphere in gaseous and particulate organic carbon.

It will first make progress in characterizing the air quality in Beirut and in identifying and quantifying the relative importance of primary and secondary sources of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and COVO (oxygenated volatile organic compounds ) in the region.

Ecocem is based on two intensive measurement campaigns, the first in summer 2011, from 1 to 15 Julyand the second during the winter 2011/2012, from January 28 to February 11, 2012. The test site will be hosted on the campus of the University of Beirut.
